Tracy’s Cade Albracht Wins Silver for Team USA at WBC Muay Thai Pan-American Championships
Tracy, CA – Cade Albracht, a graduate of Millennium High School and a standout athlete from American Top Team Tracy, represented Team USA at the WBC Muay Thai Pan-American Championships in Monterrey, Mexico, over the weekend. After a grueling 14-month recovery from total left knee reconstructive surgery, Albracht defied the odds with an intense rehabilitation program and earned his place on the international stage.
Albracht is the second athlete from American Top Team Tracy to make it onto Team USA, following in the footsteps of Maylene Mercado, who represented the country in Canada and Bangkok, Thailand, last year. Competing in the elite A-Class 156-pound division, Cade was the only fighter to battle three times over the weekend.
He stormed through his first two opponents with dominant unanimous decision victories, including a win over a professional fighter from a renowned gym. In his second fight, a brutal shin-to-shin clash injured his right leg, but he fought through the pain to secure a spot in the gold medal match.
Despite entering the final bout with a severely compromised leg, Albracht relied on his boxing and elbows. After dropping the first round, he rallied back in the second, appearing to even the score. In the third and final round, he pushed forward with relentless pressure, dominating his opponent with flurries of punches, elbows, and clinch knees.
When the final bell rang, Cade’s hand was initially raised in victory—only for the referee to reverse the decision and award the win to his opponent.
Given only 14 days’ notice to compete after being medically cleared, Albracht’s silver medal finish is a testament to his resilience, skill, and warrior spirit. His journey back from injury to the international stage is nothing short of inspirational.
Cade Albracht’s comeback is just beginning. On to the next challenge!
